Instructions
It is very important that you follow the instructions exactly in order for this lighting project to go as planned. If you are not someone who does a lot of DIY work, get some help from a handy friend. The steps include:
1. Take your measuring tape and measure the walls in which you will be applying the lighting treatment (this is necessary to determine how many strands of lights you will need as well as MDF and fabric quantity)
2. Cut MDF to desired size (you will be applying it as crown molding)
3. Remove existing crown molding if there is any
4. Grab a strand of lights and stretch them out completely and lay out enough MDF to compensate
5. Grab your stapler and begin to staple the lighting to the MDF
6. Now grab your fabric and cut it down to the proper length and width (remember that you will need to fold this over the MDF and staple it
7. Apply the fabric to cover the lighting and MDF. Make sure it is pulled taught. Now apply a second layer
8. Repeat steps 4-7 until you have enough molding panels to complete your room(s)
9. With a friend’s help get onto the step ladder and hold the molding panels to the wall and level them
10. Once level take your nail gun and begin to apply these panels to the wall
11. Make sure that the cord from the lighting does not come below the molding and attach the extension cord
12. Take the stapler and fix the extension cord to the wall and paint it
13. Wait for paint to dry and enjoy the ambient atmosphere
You can see that this lighting idea is not too hard. It will ensure that your space has adequate illumination before you put it on the Bay Area real estate market.
